MINUTES OF THE
DOVER TOWN CENTRE MANAGEMENT CO. LTD.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
held at 6.00pm on Tuesday 22nd January 2008
at Dover Community Centre, 1 Maison Dieu Road, Dover.

In attendance:

Alan Elcocks (representing Boots and Dover Community Centre), David Somers (DPAC), Suzanne Robinson (CMS), Madeleine Spain (Age Concern), Cllr. Chris Precious (Dover Town Council), Patrick Williams (SeaFrance and Dover Athletic FC), Barry Williams (Dover Chamber of Commerce), Richard Christian (Port of Dover), Barry Wadsworth-Smith (DoverWeb), Terry Nunn (himself and the London Road Community Forum), Bill Newman (Kent County Council), Jeremy Cope (Dover Society), Peter Drew (Phillips and Drew and Ann and Pam’s).

1. Chairman’s Report:

Alan Elcocks read out the enclosed report,

2. Election of Directors:

Alan Elcocks stood down as Chairman and was replaced by David Somers for the duration of the election.  David Somers informed the meeting that all existing Directors were prepared to stand for re-election.   There being no objections, David Somers proposed that all be re-elected, seconded by Madeleine Spain.  The proposal was carried unanimously.

Peter Drew proposed Terry Nunn as an additional director, seconded by Jeremy Cope.  The proposal was carried unanimously.

Suzanne Robinson proposed Alan Elcocks serve once again as Chairman, seconded by Bill Newman.  The proposal was carried unanimously.

Cllr. Precious proposed Terry Nunn serve as Secretary seconded by Jeremy Cope.  The proposal was carried unanimously.


3 / 4. Re-election of auditors and their remuneration:

The chairman thanked Reeves and Neylan for their work as accountants and auditors and informed the meeting that Reeves and Neylan continue to prepare staff salaries at no extra cost.  It was proposed by Suzanne Robinson and seconded by Madeleine Spain that they be re-elected and that payment be set at a similar level plus inflation. The proposal was carried unanimously.

5. Any other business

David Somers presented his co-ordinator's report and a copy of his notes are attached.

Barry Wadsworth-Smith felt the lay-out of the DoverLife Newsletter was improving with each issue.  David Somers told the meeting he hoped to continue with the improvements and build on the success of the Newsletter.

Alan Elcocks offered his thanks to David Somers.  He felt that David Somers had been working hard to deliver expertise on a more business-like footing.  David’s continuing use of his Networking skills would, he hoped see good results in the future.

A discussion went on about a recent article printed by the Dover Express.  Members expressed their concern about the article and the Dover Express’s decision not to print the response forwarded to them by David Somers.  Alan Elcocks informed the meeting that the response could be seen on TCM’s website.

The meeting was informed that Alan Elcocks, David Somers and Sarah Talbot attended a meeting at Dover Town Council with Mayor Cllr. Bob Markham about the Christmas Lights Switch-on Event, following which the balance of monies owed to TCM was paid.

The meeting started at 18.05 and closed at 19.30.
